Now that the dust has settled on the inaugural Scrum Day London, it’s a great opportunity to reflect on an amazing day.
With the theme Business Agility through Professional Scrum, Scrum Day London saw industry leading Scrum practitioners present information, insights and make game-changing announcements to decision-makers and thought-leaders in their communities.
One of the main talking points from the events was the news that a refined version of the Scrum Guide will launch in July 2016! This Guide contains the definition of Scrum and the roles, events, artefacts, with the rules that bind them together. Developed by Scrum Day London’s keynote speaker Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland, this is something that will change the way we look at Scrum and delivery products and software.
The day was also a celebration of Scrum’s 21st birthday. Like many of us when we got to that age, important decisions needed to be made – and Scrum is no different. For years what has been a staple in our industry, there’s now a potential development with Scrum.org’s mission statement. It may now focus on improving software delivery, opposed to cultivating software development.
Amongst the excitement of the announcement, Scrum Day London’s vast range of speakers also imparted with their wisdom. With discussion ranging from software craftsmanship and a lack of skilled Product Owners to digital disruption the transparency that Agile brings, the day genuinely offered something for everyone.
It has been a great experience working alongside Akaditi and Scrum.Org, the providers of Professional Scrum Assessments and Training to a global community, to organise and promote the event. We’d also like to say a massive thank you to everyone who joined us at Prospero House and took to the stage!
